Promotional gifts work wonders for promoting weight loss centres and programs. That was brought home to me last night as I relaxed in front of the TV.
I watched the UK version of "The Biggest Loser' last night. That's the program that takes a group of very obese adults, offers them a healthy diet and puts them all to work in the gym under the instruction of two trainers. They are all trying to get down to a healthy weight but the 'biggest loser' gets the added bonus of winning £25,000.
As I sat their sipping my coke and eating my beef burger, I watched as they all sweat it out trying to shed the pounds. Then it suddenly donned on me just how well the program was advertised with promotional gifts.
Each of the contestants had large t-shirts printed with' The Biggest Loser.' In fact, almost everything they touched sported the same logo. From their sports drink bottles to their towels and paper pads, they all had the logo nice and large printed for all to see.
This was really no different to my own gym where the manager always ensures his gift shop is stocked high with promotional merchandise printed or embroidered with the gym's logo.
Later in the show they advertised the newly published Biggest Loser Book which had just gone on sale. No doubt they will also be selling some of the clothing and other useful gadgets used on the show as well.
Promotional gifts are not just gifts. Promotional merchandise is anything that carries a logo and/or contact details. These types of product loan themselves to the weight loss business very well
If you are marketing a gym or weigh loss program, your clients will often take pride in the fact that they are part of it. These same clients will often purchase products with the logo of the place or program. If not, they are unlikely to turn down a free printed gift.
Whether you are in the lucky position where you can actually charge for your logo printed merchandise or you give the products away, the end result is ultimately the same.
These products sell. They promote the places, products or programs they are printed with to the recipient and everyone they happen to encounter. Many of these products can last for months if not years. This means that thousands of people can see your brand information all for one small cost.
Now that's good marketing!
