The music we listen to in America is generally unique, creative and different than the music created by the top pop bands of other nations, and yet so often our music makes it into their realm and theirs into ours. Many famous bands have crossed overseas to sell millions of records, tapes, CDs in lands afar.
Today we can listen to music of the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and present on XM Radio of Sirius Satellite Radio anytime we wish to. All of them, even the oldies are familiar to us and in their day were huge hits. I often, listen to the 80s music, as that was the music I grew up to, others listen to 70s as they grew up in that era and listened to that music.
Still, although the music is different through the ages, the passion remains the same. These artists grew up in different generations and were a product of their time, and their music reflects that. Just because you may not like the old stuff, does not mean in their day they were any less popular. I think all folks should listen to the music of other periods and reflect on some of these thoughts.
