IFC made almost $4 billion in equity investments in fiscal year 2010. IFC is looking to substantially grow its portfolio of equity and mezzanine investments. IFC is recruiting experienced Equity Business Developers in (i) the Manufacturing, Agribusiness & Services (health, education, retail and property) sectors, and (ii) the Infrastructure (power, water, transport, telecoms) & Natural Resources (oil, gas and mining) sectors. The Equity Business Developers are likely to be based in Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, New Delhi, Mumbai, Dubai, Nairobi, Dakar, Johannesburg, Istanbul, Moscow, Sao Paulo, London and Washington D.C.
Duties and Accountabilities:
- Develop and promote IFC s equity and mezzanine investments in the Manufacturing, Agribusiness & Services sectors/Infrastructure & Natural Resources sectors - Build a strong pipeline of potential investee companies and generate mandates to initiate new equity and mezzanine investments – Participate in negotiations with potential investee companies - Contribute to IFC s repository of industry specific and equity/mezzanine product know-how, lessons learned, and other tools for better and more efficient decision-making.
Selection Criteria:
At least 10 years of work experience in emerging markets, with at least 5 years as a direct investor in equity and mezzanine investments; - Proven ability and track record of originating equity and mezzanine transactions in emerging markets; - Proven ability and track record of accessing client companies and shareholders at senior most/decision making levels; – Experience in and analytical knowledge of either the Manufacturing, Agribusiness & Services sectors or the Infrastructure & Natural Resources sectors; - Experience in lead negotiating and structuring complex equity and mezzanine transactions; - Existing and usable network amongst financial and strategic investors and potential investee companies in one or more regions; – Experience in portfolio management, including facilitation of exits. Having prior experience as an investee company board director is a positive; – Advanced degree required, MBA from leading international institutions preferred. - Written competency and spoken language fluency in English,; – Excellent financial and analytical skills. - Ability to work in multicultural teams and on multiple projects simultaneously The positions could be based in any of the above cities.
