Host – Emmanuel Hospital Association
Location: Delhi, India, with frequent travel to project locations
Description of Duties and Outputs:
During his/her tenure with EHA the fellow will report to the Focal Point responsible for implementing the project and is expected to contribute to the development and delivery of the project being funded by UNDP more specifically through:
• Supporting the project team across 10 project locations in remote districts of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh by systematically documenting the processes for enrolling policy holders, increasing awareness regarding the entitlements to policy holders, improving hospitalization experience and monitoring improved health outcomes and improved hospital processes in catering to RSBY registered patients.
• Support in appropriate process benchmarking by analysing the data generated by partner hospitals in treating RSBY patients.
• Support EHA in developing a robust insurance product for out-patient services which can then be institutionalized through a public private partnership model.
o This will involve understanding the various cost elements in an insurance programme which provide
inputs to product pricing
• Evaluating lessons learnt and understanding how these lessons can lead to progressive improvement in processes and delivery of a better service for enhanced customer experience.
• The above will include extensive travel to the field areas in the above mentioned states and close interaction with various stakeholders – hospitals, community based organizations, insurance company representatives, and government officials at the central and local level.
Outputs
• Assessment Report of RSBY strengthening initiatives in the project districts
• Documentation of project lessons for meaningful and effective modifications in subsequent periods
• Coordination of reporting for the Microinsurance Innovation Facility
Required Qualifications
Education
Post graduate degree in any discipline. Preference for candidates with insurance or health care administration background
Experience
5 years with at least 3 years in the insurance or development sector
Languages
Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in Hindi will be an advantage.
Other requirements
• Proven ability to work effectively in other cultures, communities and project teams
• Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, multitasking ability and time management skills
• Good presentation skills and ability to provide formal and information training
• Interest in international development and commitment to continue working in microinsurance after the fellowship
• Strong social skills and collaborative spirit
• An interest to travel and work in a relatively unstructured environment

• An understanding of the multiple delivery mechanisms available in the county
• Insight to how can costs be effectively controlled and managed
• An understanding of the efficient means of attracting and retaining policy holders amongst low income families
